I’m a modern quilt pattern designer, who is inspired by bold color and geometrical designs. What’s a QAL? You ask. A QAL is an pattern specific, organized quilting event over a set number of weeks. I love QAL because not only does it offer an opportunity to learn for the designer, but with the weekly prompt and participants sharing you create long lasting connections with the quilt community.
The Shimmer and Shine QAL is going to be a fun event. I am offering an exclusive instruction for the “Rainbow Spectrum” block version that is not offered in the pattern. Featuring Melissa Mortenson’s Sparkler Collection has the perfect spectrum of color to achieve this look. This is my third project to make with this collection since it released, needless to say it’s my favorite basic! Week 1’s winner will receive their very own Sparkler Fat Quarter bundle.
First thing you need to do is get the Shimmer and Shine quilt pattern and register on my website. For the QAL, you may chose to do a single block for a pillow or tackle a whole quilt. I will email you every Monday with weekly promote and tips for success. Each week, you will learn the basics to FPP in small bite size chunks. You simply post your progress on Instagram tagging @jennaluedeckedesign and #ShimmerandShineQAL, and then you will be entered in the weekly giveaways.
