Hi everyone! It’s Kari from That’s Sew Kari, stopping in with a pair of matching mini backpacks for my two girls. My girls love being able to grab a fun bag to accessorize their outfits and I love that they still ask me for new ones.
Kindness, Always by EttaVee is a fun colorful collection that cannot help but put a smile on your face. The collection features colorful, painted florals, rainbows, and butterflies. Coordinating fabrics include beautiful tonal colors and fun leopard prints.
When I was choosing fabrics, I knew I wanted to use the Kindness, Always Rainbows Cloud for a mini backpack. I was planning on only sewing for my youngest daughter because she loves rainbows. As I was looking for a fabric to sew up a matching dress, she decided she just wanted the backpack. My oldest also requested a matching backpack in an alternate colorway, Kindness, Always Rainbows Navy.
I used the Passport to Paradise Mini Backpack pattern that I created last year. Once all the prep work is finished, it’s actually really quick to sew up. I found some fun metallic rainbow hardware and zipper on Amazon which complimented the fabric so well.
For the inside, the girls chose the Leopard print – Yellow for my oldest and Coral for my youngest. The inside seams are finished with handmade bias. I like to use matching fabrics for this step, but it’s also fun to use a different fabric for a pop of color here.
These mini backpacks have just enough room to hold their essentials without being too big!
