Ombre Plus Quilt pattern was deigned for a custom baby gift asking for a plus quilt. As you probably know, the plus block design are a traditional quilt that offers a simplistic design. Being drawn to all things ombre, I decided to “ADD” a little modern flare. See what I did there, hehe! Make it Modern is all about taking a basic concept like the plus quilt, and throwing in some basic fabrics for the ombre background.
These basic fabrics were leftover material from my Ninja Stars Quilt blogpost. I like to make things modern by using the blenders that act as solids on any quilt. Ombre Plus features Riley Blake’s Textures collection (Caribbean), Kisses collection (Aqua and Peacock) and the Shabby collection (Azure and Peacock) to add contrast into the ombre effect in the background. Bleached Denim by Confetti Cottons is a light subtle blue almost white that is highlighted in the plus signs.
This monochromatic ombre of Riley Blake’s blues will never get old.
Believe it or not, I still had scraps left. I finished the quilt out with a scrappy label. I backed it in Peacock from the Kisses collection and embellished it with scrappy goodness, then bound it in Aqua 1/8″ Stripes.
