Roar – Christine Sling

Hi Creative Cohorts! It’s Tina again coming at you after a wonderful summer full of fun but less sewing! I was in the Fanny Pack Along mindset and decided a wonderful little crossbody bag would be adorable in these dino prints. The Roar Fabric from Citrus & Mint Designs for Riley Blake Designs is so on trend and very cute.

I picked a few prints to make a custom little Christine Sling (pattern by Love You Sew) with stripey piping to just complete the perfect project. Making custom piping was a lot easier than I anticipated and easy to accomplish with some cording and a zipper foot.

One of my favorite things about Riley Blake Designs fabric lines are the wonderful coordinate prints that make up each collection. With stripes, and RBD basics, the Novelty Fabrics can really be the star with the perfect support.

I used the striped fabric for the custom piping and strap material.

The small plus sign fabric was used for all the lining components of this bag!

If you’re going to venture out and make the Christine Sling, make sure you have your wonder clips handy, that were extremely helpful in the creation of the piping, and attaching it to the bag.

One alteration I did to the bag is add some foam stabilizer as the interfacing for this project. It’s one of my favorite bag hacks, because it gives the bags such good body. Also as a quilter, who doesn’t love the chance to add some quilting to the picture?

I have built up quite the Aurifil Thread collection and love that I also have the perfect thread matches for each part of the process!

Here is the Milan Grey set that offsets all the Roar colors just perfectly!

This sage green and cool blue are very in style at the moment in lots of different areas of my life, clothing and home décor. It makes total sense that they would show up in my accessories as well!

If you are looking to make a fabulous bag with pockets, snaps, and zippers look no further! This is the perfect project to show off your favorite Riley Blake fabric!
