Hey everyone, it’s Jamie from Sew Brainy Designs back with WEEK 1 of the the Support Group Quilt Along! I’m sewing along with my friends over at The Fat Quarter Shop to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month all October!
The event features the adorable Support Group Quilt Pattern by Riley Blake Designer Lori Holt whose mom survived breast cancer. In case you missed it, you can read my last post about this quilt along HERE.
For my quilt, I’m using these 12 brights from the Riley Blake basics line Blossom by Christopher Thompson! They are Fuchsia, Wisteria, Raspberry, Apricot Blush, Cayenne, Orange, Honey, Emerald City, Green Smoothie, Peacock, Medium Blue, and Denim.
These are the three BRA BLOCK #1 designs that will go on the first row. This one is fuchsia with orange trim.
This is the yellow bra with peacock trim.
And this is the apricot blush with the green smoothie trim. I didn’t really think about it looking like a watermelon, but I guess that’s OK here. LOL!
My goal for this quilt was to make something bright and punchy and I think these blocks are definitely hitting that mark!
I decided to use a Blossom low volume background to add a bit more jazz! This white on black fabric is my favorite low volume! The random blossoms always conceal seams so well!
I seriously love these blocks!!! I think the bold fuchsia & orange block might be my favorite. I can’t wait to put together all the other color combos!
I’m also doing a special little project with the new Strength in Pink line from RBD! You can read more about the fabric HERE.
How adorable is this bra block #1? I couldn’t resist the Gingham for the trim!
For the background fabric, I stuck with Blossom and used On White All the Pink. I love the multi colored pinks spots with this fabric.
I’ll be working on bra block #2 this week, so I’ll be back to show those off next Friday! Here’s the schedule:
QUILT SECTION | POSTING DATE |
Row 1 bra blocks | October 7 |
Row 2 bra blocks | October 14 |
Row 3 bra blocks | October 21 |
Row 4 bra blocks | October 28 |
Finishing | November 4 |
I hope you will all follow along and spread some love to all the breast cancer survivors out there! Keep up with us for this event by following @rileyblakedesigns, @sewbrainydesigns, and @fatquartershop on Instagram and use #SupportGroupQuiltAlong and #SupportGroupSAL to see and share work from your fellow quilters.
