Have you been following the Traditional Block Thursday (#tbt) tutorials on our Penny Rose Fabrics blog? Bonnie has been walking us through the basics of several traditional quilt blocks. If you follow along throughout the year, you will have made enough blocks to make a beautiful sampler quilt.

Yes, please!

I have a confession to make: I sew clothing. Yes, I said it. I have never made the leap into the quilting arena. However, that is about to change! I told Bonnie I would be following along as a test to see if her instructions were clear enough for a first-time quilter. No pressure! I have made several of her blocks now, and they have all turned out great – thank you, Bonnie, my quilting sensei!

Every other Thursday, as Bonnie shares a Traditional Block Thursday tutorial, I will be showing off my modern version of the same block. My blocks will feature Riley Blake solid color fabrics, accentuating the clean, minimalist lines that can be found in traditional quilt blocks.

This week’s Churn Dash block was a cinch to make. I took it one step further and flipped the squares to make a completely different block on the left.

You can get the complete tutorial HERE.

You can also find all of Bonnie’s TBT tutorials on our Penny Rose Pinterest page.

Join us each week as we bring you another TBT MODERN quilt block!
